Analemma. The sun’s position in the sky, photographed from the same location at the same time of day throughout a year, forms an analemma. This shows the sun’s apparent swinging from its northernmost position, at the analemma’s uppermost point, at summer solstice, to its southernmost position/lowest point, at winter solstice.

“Shrouded within the park of Villa Demidoff (just north of Florence, Italy), there sits a gigantic 16th century sculpture known as Colosso dell'Appennino, or the Appennine Colossus. The brooding structure was first erected in 1580 by Italian sculptor Giambologna. Like a guardian of the pond in front of him, the giant is in an endless watchful pose, perched atop his earthy seat.”
A light pillar is an atmospheric optical phenomenon, which is an interaction of light with ice crystals. When the temperature drops and these crystals position themselves horizontally as they fall through the air, they act as “vessels” for light, shooting it upwards. Gold Fireflies Dance Through Japanese Enchanted Forest in the Summer of 2016
An array of photographers captured these stunning images of gold fireflies during Japan’s rainy season in June and July. A dazzling long-exposure effort, the fireflies resemble a chimerical glittery effect only seen by fairies in enchanted forests.

Furore, a village on Italy’s Amalfi coast, is known for its fjord, which is called the Fiordo. This gorge cuts straight into the rock, bringing a narrow strip of the sea to a lovely sandy beach. The town is hidden inside this rift, which is why Furore is sometimes called the “town that doesn’t exist.” There, at the beach, you can rest in the shade provided by the mountains or cool yourself in the blue water.
